Nematicity Arising from a Chiral Superconducting Ground State in Magic-Angle Twisted Bilayer Graphene under In-Plane Magnetic Fields

چکیده

Recent measurements of the resistivity in magic-angle twisted bilayer graphene near superconducting transition temperature show two-fold anisotropy, or nematicity, when changing direction an in-plane magnetic field [Cao \textit{et al.}, Science \textbf{372}, 264 (2021)]. This was interpreted as strong evidence for exotic nematic superconductivity instead widely proposed chiral superconductivity. Counter-intuitively, we demonstrate that two-dimensional superconductors can hybridize two order parameters to induce a phase shows nematicity transport response. Its paraconductivity is modulated $\cos(2\theta_{\bf B})$, with $\theta_{\bf B}$ being field, consistent experiment graphene. We therefore suggest response reported by Cao al.} does not rule out ground state.

Quantum Hall effect in twisted bilayer graphene.

We address the quantum Hall behavior in twisted bilayer graphene transferred from the C face of SiC. The measured Hall conductivity exhibits the same plateau values as for a commensurate Bernal bilayer. This implies that the eightfold degeneracy of the zero energy mode is topologically protected despite rotational disorder as recently predicted. In addition, an anomaly appears. The densities at...

Superlensing with twisted bilayer graphene

The charge susceptibility of twisted bilayer graphene is investigated in the Dirac cone, respectively, randomphase approximation. For small enough twist angles θ ≲ 2° , we find genuine interband plasmons, i.e., collective excitonic modes that exist in the undoped material with an almost constant energy dispersion. In this regime, the loss function can be described as a Fano resonance, and we ar...

NMR in rotating magnetic fields: magic-angle field spinning.

Magic-angle sample spinning is one of the cornerstones in high-resolution NMR of solid and semisolid materials. The technique enhances spectral resolution by averaging away rank 2 anisotropic spin interactions, thereby producing isotropic-like spectra with resolved chemical shifts and scalar couplings. In principle, it should be possible to induce similar effects in a static sample if the direc...
